What is Ignition?
Ignition is an industrial application platform developed by Inductive Automation. It acts as the hub for everything on the plant floor: it talks just as naturally to PLCs of any make and model, to sensors and to SQL databases, bridging operations and IT. SCADA, HMI, MES and IIoT applications are built on a single server software, and screens open in a web browser, on tablets and on phones with no installation.
Why Ignition?
Unlimited licensing model
Ignition is licensed per server. There are no extra fees for the number of users, screens, clients or tags; adding a new line or a new user to the plant does not increase license costs.
Web-based, on every device
Screens run in the browser with HTML5. The same application adapts to every device, from the operator panel to the manager’s phone, and client computers need no installation or updates.
Open, standards-based platform
OPC UA, MQTT and SQL are built in. Drivers for Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Mitsubishi and Modbus devices come ready to use. Data is kept in your own SQL database, not in a closed format.
From one server to many plants
You can start with a single line and scale to multiple plants with the same architecture. Edge devices collect data on the shop floor, and a central server brings together data from all plants.
Fast development
Screens, alarms, reports and historical data are developed in a single design environment. Changes go live instantly without stopping the system.
What we do with Ignition
SCADA and HMI
Line and plant monitoring screens, alarm management, historian and trend analysis. Migration of existing SCADA systems to Ignition.
MES: İldiko
OEE, downtime tracking, quality inspection and traceability with İldiko MES, which we built on Ignition. We start from İldiko and add screens and processes specific to your shop floor.
SAP integration
Drawing on our experience with SAP PP, QM and MES modules, two-way integrations that take production orders from SAP and post confirmations, goods issues and quality results back to SAP.
Data collection from machines and PLCs
Collecting counter, status, speed and process data without touching the PLC program; data flow between plants over MQTT and setting up the data model (UNS).
Training and support
Ignition usage and development training for your teams, plus post go-live support and maintenance from Istanbul.
How we work
- Discovery: We review your lines, existing automation infrastructure and ERP processes together.
- Architecture and licensing: We define the server setup and the Ignition modules you need.
- Pilot: We quickly set up a working system on a single line and gather feedback from the shop floor.
- Rollout: We extend the same setup to other lines and plants.
- Support: Monitoring, improvement and training after go-live.
Frequently asked questions
What is Ignition?
Ignition is an industrial application platform developed by Inductive Automation. SCADA, HMI, MES and IIoT applications are built on a single server software, and screens are used from a web browser.
Who implements and supports Ignition?
Etzel is an Inductive Automation certified integrator. We provide installation, application development, SAP integration and post go-live support from Istanbul.
Does it work with our existing PLCs?
Yes. Ignition communicates with Siemens, Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Omron, Mitsubishi and Modbus devices through its built-in drivers, and with other devices over OPC UA and MQTT. In most projects data is collected without touching the PLC program.
Can we migrate from WinCC or another SCADA to Ignition?
Yes. Ignition can run alongside your existing SCADA for a while, reading data from the same PLCs. We plan the migration line by line or screen by screen and carry it out without stopping production.
How is Ignition licensed?
Ignition is licensed per server and purchased module by module. There are no extra fees based on the number of users, screens or tags. The license is perpetual; an optional annual support plan covers upgrades and manufacturer support. We work out together which modules your project needs.
Can you build an MES with Ignition?
Yes. İldiko MES, which we built on Ignition, delivers OEE, downtime tracking, quality and traceability integrated with your ERP. Depending on your needs, we start from İldiko and add screens specific to your shop floor.
Can Ignition be integrated with SAP?
Yes. Drawing on our SAP PP, QM and MES experience, we build two-way integrations that take production orders from SAP and post confirmations, goods issues and quality results back to SAP.
